Move-In Day - Friday, August 21, 2015

Are you ready?

Learn more about what to bring to campus.

On Friday, August 21, there are two important things to accomplish before your first Orientation meeting at 9:00 pm — move in to your residence hall and attend New Student Check-In.

Move-In Information

Due to the large number of students arriving on campus on Friday, August 21, students living on North Campus will be assigned a move-in time based on the first letter of their last name.

If your last name begins withMove in between the hours of
A-G8:00 am - 11:00 am
H-O11:00 am - 2:00 pm
P-Z2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Students who arrive early will NOT be able to move in before their assigned time. In the rare case that you cannot check in during your move-in time, please contact the Housing Office prior to Orientation.

All new students will be required to present an Unloading Permit for Move-In Day. This permit allows you to drive on campus during your assigned move-in time. Beginning August 1 you will be able to print your permit. Please bring your permit and make sure it is clearly displayed on your dashboard at all times on Move-In Day.

Due to heavy traffic on Move-In Day, families may bring only one vehicle on to campus. Vehicles over 14 feet long will not be permitted on campus any time on Friday with the exception of SUVs, pick-up trucks, or standard vans/minivans. Tip: If you wish to use a U-Haul or any other oversized vehicle, you may move your belongings into your residence hall on Saturday, August 22.

New Student Check-In

You are required to attend New Student Check-In in Barton Hall on Friday, August 21 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm to pick up your Cornell ID card. You can attend Check-In either before or after your move-in time. Tip: If you are in the 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm move-in slot, plan to attend New Student Check-In prior to moving in to your residence hall.

Staff from more than 30 university departments will be available to answer questions and share information regarding matriculation and campus opportunities. Students should plan to spend approximately 45 minutes at the event. Families are welcome.
